Outnumbered

Wednesday mornings from 9 am-2:30 pm I have been watching the neighbor kids from across the street, Abby 3 years who is in pre-school from 9 am-12 pm, and Alex 11 months. Most days they are good and Carson enjoys the company but last week I seriously had a "I am not having more kids" moment. I was already dreading watching the kids that day because it had been a long night for me (thanks Carson). I walk over to their house and for about an hour things are going smoothly. Then Alex was getting tired. I thought, I can handle this because Carson is still playing well.
Crying begets crying (every time) and next thing I know they are both crying. I felt helpless, they were both tired and I don't have four arms so I couldn't help them, believe me I tried for about 20 minutes. Exasperated, a kid on each hip, I make the trek across the street to our house while doing my best not to drop them. It is times like this when I am soo thankful that Andrew is at home because I passed Carson off to him.
Mothers of two or more, how do you do it all? I am in awe.
Here is the Lavastone gang. It is almost impossible to get a good picture of three kids. I sometimes I have a hard enough time with one. I took about 20 pictures and believe it or not, this is the best one of Alex, Abby and Carson.

Sounds like those kids are the same ages as mine. I do it by making them nap a lot and making sure they go to bed by 7 every night. Then I have me time for hours. Plus it's always different when they are your own. Good luck with the kids:)

I just ignore the crying kids and watch OPRAH! (Just kidding)

Be grateful you aren't in Nursery!

I think with two you just get used to chaos, and crying. You just learn to tune it out, you have to or you lose your mind. J/k, it's fun, especially when they go to bed. :)

I can TOTALLY sympathize. I hate to say it but I dread my Mondays & Tuesdays. I watch 2 extra kids those days and it really makes 8 hours seem like 24. My kids are Megan 4, Kiley 3, Kalel 17 months & Bryson 14 months. There are days that I don't want anymore kids. at least i will have them more spaced out then that, plus they will all be my kids and on MY schedule not everyone elses. But the extra money is what we need so that we can buy a van when we do have 3 kids. Good luck, I hope the days are better than not. Love you!

It's definately hard taking care of multiple kids that are the same age. But your own kids won't all be the same age obviously. Trust me, it's different when they're your own kids. Good practice though. Good luck with that!

I just take it one day at a time. We plan fun things to do outside and plan field trips to different places. My twins don't take naps anymore so by 7:00pm they are so tired and almost ready for bed. Then I have time to do what I need to. But I agree with everyone...when they are your own kids that makes a big difference. And having the kids close in age just gives them a permanant play pal. I don't always have to be entertaining them. That's nice. But good luck with the baby sitting.
