I Am a Lion, Hear Me Roar!

We are so excited this year for Halloween because last year Carson was only 4 months old and now at 17 months, he is at such a fun stage. He is adventurous, likes to knock on doors and happens to LOVE chocolate, so I know that this might be his favorite holiday of all time...until Christmas rolls around.

What about this one?

At the pumpkin patch this year he was more interested in exploring than he was about pumpkins.

In fact, he thought that pumpkins were balls and exhibited this to us by throwing them whenever he would pick one up.

His costume for this year is a lion because the monkey costume that I wanted for him last year was again sold out. To ensure that we don't have that same problem next year we have secured the monkey costume. I figured after this year that he might not always want to be an animal.

The first time we tried on his costume, he freaked out. He was kicking and flailing like children love to do when they don't get their way. This time, he came around and he is quite the timid little lion with his soft innocent roar.

Update: the loot. We went to about 20 houses and got all of this candy! Now what?

What do you do with your Halloween candy?

1st Halloween

This year Halloween has felt like a major holiday, probably because we have participated in more Halloween activities than normal. We went to the Bishops pumpkin patch which was an all day event that included a hay ride, train ride, petting zoo, pig race and a fun slide. We also attended two Halloween parties and a baby costume contest. It seems that everything is more fun when you have a child.
Trick-or-Treat and Happy Halloween!

We had so many trick or treaters, we ran out of candy in less than 20 minutes! I have never seen so many trick or treaters in one place. Our neighbor had his house DECKED OUT, inside (everywhere) like a spook alley and outside like a graveyard. He informed us that a kid had gotten so scared that he peed his pants, poor kid. What I want to know is where he stores it all the rest of the year.

Costume Party

Liz and I decided to throw a Halloween party together and I must admit it was fun preparing for it. Besides the sweet treats and festive decorations Scott had set up all of his D.J. equipment which included numerous black lights, two disco balls and some cool music. We had a donut eating contest, a guys vs. girl charade/clay-mation game, played signs and enjoyed each others company. Below are some of our friends that came.

Mickie&Minnie-Awarded Best Costumes
(they are homemade and put mine to shame)
Josh (pirate) was the champion of the donut eating contest

For those of you wanting to see Carson dressed in his costume, you'll have to be patient a few more days because I'm saving those pictures for Halloween.

Why?

We are co-throwing a Halloween costume party and we have also been invited to another. Carson is going to be a dinosaur so naturally we decided to run with the pre-historic theme. I'm fine with being Fred and Wilma Flintstone but what I can't figure out is 1. WHY am I making patterns from scratch, it's no wonder people purchase all of their clothes and 2. WHY did I decided to make our costumes, who has this kind of time? Wish me luck!
