In order to keep from getting pasty white during the winter months I, like many of you have embraced sunless tanning lotions. I myself have used Jergens for the last three years and a couple of weeks ago my legs started to itch uncontrollably accompanied by a unpleasant burning sensation, they hurt real bad. I already know that my skin is sensitive to soap, shaving cream, detergents, etc. but I hadn't tried any new products. Then I realized that it was the tanning lotion---not the miracle glow maker! Interestingly enough, my arms aren't bothered, just my legs.
My personal diagnosis is that I must be allergic to the ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHE). DHE is a colorless sugar that interacts with dead cells located in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As the sugar interacts witht he dead skin cells, a color change occur-like magic! Well, nothing magical is happening on my legs except exerting amazing amount of self control to resist scratching my legs to death.
This is where YOU come in...besides Jergens what self tanning products have you used that have worked. I am willing to try anything so nothing is far-fetched.
Gimme what you got!
