I am a Mother

School was exhausting and choosing to finish was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make.

I recently {it may have been just this very morning} interviewed for a nursing position in which I felt a little discriminated against because my resume didn't include any recent work experience.  The first question they asked, "Have you never worked?"
Of course I have worked.
Anyone who knows me can testify that I am a hard worker!

Since I was old enough to work, I have; Babysitting (10yrs) San Juan Unified School District doing filing and filling substitute positions (12yrs), Old Navy (15yrs) Rollingwood Racquet Club (16-19yrs), Marketing Alley briefly (18yrs), Circuit City (19-22yrs), Cleaned houses (22-25yrs until Carson was born and then I started nursing school).

I failed to mention these on my resume because they aren't relevant to obtaining a nursing job and I didn't include mom and housewife {although they are the hardest jobs I have and will EVER do}because I didn't think it was necessary.

I also was a bit upset over having to explain myself as to why I am choosing to stay home and that in fact, after I get a little experience in the nursing field I intend to focus my attention on my children, not a career.

I don't understand why professionals can't understand this concept. Dang feminists.
Why is motherhood viewed as unpopular and old fashioned?

I love the quote by N. Eldon Tanner
" A mother has far greater influence on her children than anyone else, and she must realize that every word she speaks, every act, every response, her attitude, even her manner of dress affect the lives...of her children and the whole family.  It is while the child is in the home that he gains from his mother the contribution he will make to society."

Although lately I have been physically and mentally exhausted taking care of three small children, it is not something I would trade or regret doing when I am old.  I love being home when Carson walks through the door from kindergarten and he can't stop talking about his day, I enjoy being able to spend time with Caitlin teaching her things that only a mother can and I am fortunate to be able to watch Owen as he explores the big world around him.

I may be a nurse but I am a mother first.

9 months

Where did our little boy go?

This one now has 5 1/2 teeth, crawls (like a pirate with a wooden leg...it's quite hilarious!), "talks" as the kids like to say, pulls up to standing, feeds himself finger foods and is an absolute joy to be around--unless I want to go out of his line of site then forget about it because his world falls apart!

Owen truly is a joy to be around and is pretty content as long as he's not left alone in a room.  He lights up our world and is loved and adored by all especially Caitlin who dotes on him and says at least ten times a day "Owen is so cute!" or "my little brother is so cute!"

Time please slow down! Pretty please!

This part is for me--his schedule consists of waking up between 6:20-7 ( i don't mind the early hour except when he wakes up on the days I run, before I leave to run)
Eats breakfast and hangs out until 9ish then he'll take his first NAP
Usually an hour if I'm lucky but today it was close to 2 so I was happy about that!
2nd nap close to 2pm
Bedtime 7:30-8
Wakes up at 11pm for a bottle
