Save the Sheep

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!
One for my master, one for my dame.
And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

So we finally furnished our living room. New couch. New rug. The rug makes the room look lighter and adds much needed texture to the room. The rug is 100% wool and is supposed to be "the best". We love the way it looks, and if looks were all that mattered we would be happy.
However, it feels like we have a huge 500 pound dog (or sheep) living in our house. Anything that comes in contact with the rug immediately looks like a lint roller. We have vacuumed it at least seven times in the past 24 hours since we received it, each with the same end result...more fluff.
HELP!!! We do not like hair, hence the reason for us not ever owning any pets. Our main reason for purchase was so that Carson could sit and play on the rug but I am afraid to put Carson on it for fear of him eating the fuzz. Andrew read online that this is normal-what? - "a new wool carpet may actually shed heavily for the first few months of use." We wish we would have read that before ordering.
If anyone has experience or any tips for us we welcome all suggestions...no matter how crazy they sound. We are desperate and would like to "save our sheep" from being returned if at all possible.
In the meantime Carson and I might just cough up a hairball.

Ways to say "I Love You"

It's almost Valentine's Day, and we have come to think of only this day as LOVE day but instead, I am suggesting that we think of EVERYDAY as an opportunity to put a little love in the world. There is an old saying that goes something like this, "Love doesn't make the world go round, but it sure makes the ride worth while."

This Valentine's Day, remember that there are various ways to say, I love you. Teach someone to read. Sit a while with someone who is lonely. Volunteer. Compliment someone. Listen to what someone has to say. Visit a friend who is sick. Tell someone you are thinking about them. Be a role model. Use your money generously. Walk for what you believe in—peace, breast cancer research and life. Comfort someone when they are sad. Walk your neighbor's dog. Participate in a food drive. Bake or buy something from a bake sale. Donate the clothes you do not wear from your closet.

Doing any one of these things and you will have loved with all of your heart.

Tasty Tuesdays

Buffalo Chicken PizzaI made this last Tuesday for dinner and Andrew really liked it. However, it isn't really a family friendly recipe unless your child is has no taste buds because it is pretty spicy.

  • INGREDIENTS
3 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cooked and cubed
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (2 ounce) bottle hot sauce
1/2 (8 ounce) bottle blue cheese salad dressing
1 (16 inch) prepared pizza crust (I used Boboli)
1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

2. In a medium bowl combine the cubed chicken, melted butter and hot sauce. Mix well. Spread whole bottle of salad dressing over crust, then top with chicken mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheese.

3. Bake in preheated oven until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly, about 15 minutes. Let set a few minutes before slicing, and serve.
