I spy

Carson came frantic into the house and headed straight for Andrew to tell him that he saw a snake in our backyard. They went out to find it sunbathing on our rocks. Not to worry, it was just a harmless garter snake but Carson felt much better in his Dad's arms.

Dallas

When Andrew and I were dating (on the way to a symphony no less-one and only let me tell you; we are not that cultured!) I mentioned to him that I wanted to name my future kids Dallas and Madison...his response was "you mean salad?" I was so confused, apparatus Dallas spelled backward is sallad-who knew?! The reason I bring this up is because Carson says he will eat salad, "when I'm a Dad." We have been trying to convince him through peer pressure {Carson and Ava both love salad} that salads not that bad. He finally agreed to try it.

Do you think he enjoyed it-not one bit. But he put on a fake polite grin and managed it down. No salad or Dallas for us anytime soon!

Filling our Buckets

I am well aware that my kids are growing like weeds faster than I can keep track. This makes me happy but also reminds me of the huge responsibility I have to ensure that my kids are not only learning temporal skills but I know that I am also responsible for nurturing their little spirits and teaching them all that they must know to live with Him again.

I have always sung to Carson before bed...I am not a great singer but he doesn't know any better! Carson loves music. His favorite church songs include, I am a Child of God, I Love to see the Temple, I am Like a Star, Follow the Prophet, Families Are Forever, Popcorn popping and Book of Mormon stories. I recently got the Primary music CDs and we have been listening to them as background noise as we play and even have them in the car sometimes. I have not only enjoyed a calmer atmosphere in my home but it has been fun listening to Carson sing songs that I didn't really think he was paying any attention to. He new song that he loves is Nephi's courage and the missionary song and I enjoy hearing his sweet little voice sing, "I will GO, I will DO..." and "I hope they call me a mission" With all the crazy things that occur day to day in this crazy world we live I hope that my children when they leave our home will go and do the right things.

Here's Carson sharing one of his favorites with us.

Neighborhood Posse

Carson is lucky to have so many friends and even luckier that a few live in our neighborhood. These girls live across the street and will come over about once a week just to play with Carson and to chat with me {which makes me feel good that they don't think if me as old.}

Hailey and Kelsey getting their Caitlin fix.

My mom gave him my brother's barely used Jeep for Christmas and since then all he wants to do is ride it and I rarely let him because it requires me to constantly bend over so that he doesn't a) crash into anything or more often than not b) get run over by a car (mainly because he ignores me while I yell, "STOP!" and the top of my lungs and because when he drives he is enjoying the scenery instead of watching where he is going.)

The other day he was the most popular kid on the block when he brought the Jeep out of seclusion. At one point he was driving 5 kids around until he backed up into the curb and sent the kid standing on the bumper to the ground...you see not the best driver.

Aren't boys the best!

C-A-R-S-O-N

Carson purposefully hiding his teeth for the picture, he is a goof-ball!

Earlier in the week I told Andrew that Carson knew how to spell his name...always a skeptic he didn't believe me. Then Carson did it for him and his response was, "who taught him that?" Really?! "I did."

Carson "performed" well over the weekend reciting his name to all whom would listen. This evening I caught it on camera but he is in a silly mood, (as you'll tell) so it took much effort to get him to sit still long enough to get through it but we managed.

Sorry it is sideways!
